I had never been to Reno before moving here 3 years ago. When my husband told me he’d gotten a job here and was taking me away from the beaches of San Diego, I cried. My co-workers threw me a Reno 911-themed going away party, and told me my life would be exactly like the TV show. I told my friends and family I’d be back in a year.
Three years later, I’m a Reno homeowner. I have a job I love going to every day, and friends I adore. I’m moved every evening by the beautiful sunsets, and constantly finding new things to do and restaurants to try. The slower-paced lifestyle suits me, and I’m even grateful to have traded the beaches of San Diego for the nearby retreat of Lake Tahoe. My old friends are even jealous that I’m living in a “more underground version of Austin”. I’m proud of my city and happy to be a resident.
